Rebecca Fing is no stranger to hard work. Born and raised in Dirranbandi, her parents instilled a strong work ethic in all three of their daughters.

By day she works as a WHS, HR and business consultant but come night, Bec indulges in her creative streak – producing bespoke homewares and art.

Coined her ‘side-hustle’, the 40-year-old mum of three crafts hand-painted and digitally printed original designs onto a broad array of products including fabrics, lamps, cushions, napery, hanging art and stationery.

Radiating femininity, Bec’s designs incorporate striking colour ways and botanical patterns inspired by her love of fun and colour.

Bec has always enjoyed producing art and building projects backed by her passions. In 2002, following the completion of a Bachelor of Rural Science at the University of New England, she started her first creative side-hustle with the launch of a hand-made jewellery business. Comprising beaded and pearl-based pieces, Bec’s business ran for ten successful years before she gave the gig up to focus on other family and business endeavours.

A prolific art workshop attendee, Bec’s practice is a culmination of experiences had and skills learnt from other likeminded artists.

“They are very regenerating and motivating for me, I leave each workshop or retreat with a whole new toolkit,” Rebecca said.

Accessibility is a key attribute of Bec Fing Designs, with the artist placing emphasis on offering affordable home décor which can feature in all homes, such as her tea-towel series and giftware range.

“I believe everyone should be able to have beautiful art in their homes”

The intersectionality of Bec’s two businesses provides opportunity for projects to collide.

“From painting a wall in my office for a zoom webinar backdrop to the cover of our productivity planner range – Bec Fing Designs are often lent to House Paddock,” she said.
