FLORENCE

Based in Jerilderie, Issy Adams is the artists behind the piece 'Florence'.

Taking one look at Issy Adams’ artwork is like glimpsing apart of her heart and soul. Exuding warmth and vibrancy, her pieces feature the emotions and experiences that have defined her upbringing.

Her artistic works incorporate distinctive botanical shapes and floral imagery as well as elements of divine femineity – a concept that Issy’s mother instilled in her from an early age.

Issy’s creative flair was borne of two distinctive worlds. She was raised in Tamworth and as a young girl would spend her weekends at the family piggery, soaking up the sun, surrounded by the natural landscapes. Though come Year 3, Issy’s family moved to Geelong for a business venture and the change of pace became her new artistic vice.

Inspired by the hustle and bustle of the city, Issy studied graphic design in high school and from her very first portfolio, fell in love with the work. This passion quickly led to a full-time gig, studying a Bachelor of Communication Design at RMIT University in Melbourne.

Entirely uncertain of where life would take her post-graduation, Issy flew the coop and landed in Wagga. It was here in a cosy share house that Isobel & Co began to grow from an idea into reality.

The now 27-year-old started experimenting with handmade earrings, gifting them to friends and family. What began as a small online shop of two designs, quickly turned into a market stall and popular business within a matter of months.

Each set of earrings is a mini artwork in itself - combining playful colourways, individual flecks of paint and detailed statement shapes.

Issy’s love for art has recently expanded to larger works; acrylic paintings featuring floral collages and electric colour palettes. However, her current works reflect seasonal changes. Her typically bright style has tapered toward neutral and golden hues of late, inspired by the recent corn harvest on the farm she calls home.

Issy is continuously being inspired by her surroundings and is open to growing Isobell & Co, with her studio currently based in Jerilderie, NSW.
