The number of injectable treatments in Australian cosmetic clinics tripled in the year to April 2021. Medical aesthetics is undoubtedly big business, but since bringing a range of new and innovative treatments to the region, Kelly George wants you to know that her team adopts a natural, preventative approach that will leave you smiling (because yes, you will still be able to move your face muscles).

Listening to Kelly George talk about Australia’s cosmetic industry is refreshingly candid. With over 14 years’ experience in medical aesthetics, Kelly knows her product inside out, owns her space in the field and calls a spade a spade.

“I’m not about freezing faces,” she says.

“We currently have more than 5000 active clients walking around the region. If you can pick someone who’s had injectables, it wasn’t done by us.”

Australia’s favourite injector

Since launching Kelly George Aesthetics (KGA) in 2015, Kelly’s Tamworth-based clinic has gone on to become one of Australia’s leading skin and anti-ageing destinations. As a registered cosmetic nurse whose career began in marketing and events for Allergan (the manufacturers of the world’s leading brand of anti-wrinkle injections BOTOX®), Kelly is well armed to lead from the top.

In 2018 she received Plastic Surgery Hub’s award for Australia’s Favourite Injector, was named within the Top 100 Global Aesthetic Leaders the following year and was a faculty member for the Global Aesthetic Summit in 2020. Kelly was also the only Australian on the global panel for the MyFaceMyBody Awards in Los Angeles, where she judged alongside renowned plastic surgeon and TV personality Dr Paul Nassif.

Suffice to say, Kelly is at the top of her game and is proud to bring a premium aesthetics service to regional NSW – something that had never previously existed.

"When I first moved to Tamworth in 2012, I quickly realised there was no one doing anti-ageing properly in the country," says Kelly.

“When I first moved to Tamworth in 2012, I quickly realised there was no one doing anti-ageing properly in the country,” says Kelly.

“There were a lot of fly-in, fly-out services sprinkling anti-wrinkle treatments all over the place every three months, but they failed to properly assess skin issues with preventative measures and were charging the most ridiculous prices.”

Unlike the FIFO aesthetics movement, the KGA team focuses on natural results, preventative treatments and empowering their clients – all at a realistic price point.

“To me, it’s not just about making someone prettier, it’s about helping people to feel better within themselves – and that’s something we can achieve through a range of treatments. While our anti-wrinkle injections are one of our most popular procedures and work wonders from a preventative perspective, treating sun damage and pigmentation with our range of resurfacing lasers, microneedling device and medical-grade skincare is also hugely sought-after in the regions.

“I’m also very proud to help teenagers, both boys and girls, struggling with acne and acne scarring. We have reduced pricing for our school-age patients, so their parents are encouraged to seek our help rather than heading to the local chemist. When I was a teenager, Mum would take me to the supermarket for some Clearasil, but those types of products tend to sensitise young skin, resulting in skin concerns that last long into their twenties. Instead, I’m happy to show young adults that there are other options that will more effectively improve their skin and boost their self-esteem in the long run.”

Body contouring has arrived

Now with six years under their belt, the KGA team is once again bringing new and innovative treatments to the region in the form of body contouring – a global market that is predicted to reach US$9.1 billion by 2024.

Having recently undergone renovations, the upstairs space in their clinic is now home to two devices – one specifically designed to destroy fat cells permanently, the other to sculpt muscle while improving strength and functionality.

“The body contouring industry has really taken off in the past two years, so we’re very excited to be able to bring this offering to our region, ” says Kelly.

“The treatment can be used to target abs, arms, back-fat, love handles, inner and outer thighs, the skin above your knees, as well as achieving a non-surgical butt lift. But my favourite thing about KGA Body Contouring is how it’s suitable for a whole range of patients. Whether you’re a mum wanting to regain some semblance of pre-baby skin around your abdomen, or an athlete looking for a competitive edge, body contouring is for patients of all ages and fitness levels who want to maintain muscle mass, build core strength, improve functionality or reduce lower back pain.”

Of course, taking the leap into the world of aesthetics can be a daunting process, so Kelly and the KGA team invite anyone interested to come along for a consultation, to chat through any concerns and develop a plan together.

“Knowing where and how to start can be overwhelming,” says Kelly. “But we’re here to help you navigate those waters and assure you that this isn’t the kind of place where you’ll walk away being unable to move your facial muscles. That’s not how we operate.

“We consistently adopt a very natural, preventative approach – and when you walk into our space you’ll immediately feel at ease in our warm, non-judgemental environment. We’re like a big family here at KGA, with a beautiful team and wonderful, loyal clients. So whether it’s wrinkles under your eyes or a gummy smile, the procedures we have available produce life-changing results that will make you smile. Seeing someone’s self-esteem grow is my favourite part of this career, and I’m lucky enough to experience that every day.”
